Bristol City vs Fulham Match Preview

Welcome to the totalrobins 125th Anniversary game, Bristol City vs Fulham prematch blog. We will cover; predicted lineups, current form and reviewing Saturdays performance against Millwall.

Millwall Review

The Robins came out of the New Den with a point as a second half Kalas own goal cancelled out Pedro Pereira’s opener as he returned to the side. The robins had only 1 shot on target in the match, for the 3rd time in 4 games, as creativity and clinical edge continues to be problematic for the Robins. Lee Johnson felt Bristol City should have been awarded a penalty as the ball hit the outstretched arm of Millwall’s Jake Cooper in the 18 yard box, however the referee gave nothing. Gary Rowett on the other hand believed Millwall should have had a penalty after Adam Nagy’s wild swing on Jason Molumby. Overall, the first half was much better from the Robins compared to Tuesdays awful performance against Huddersfield Town. Lee Johnson said after the game that the performance set the standard and that it is one to build on.

Fulham’s Recent Form

Next up for the Robins is promotion chasing Fulham. Scott Parker’s men have won 7 of their last 11 matches in the league, recently returning to form with wins over Swansea and Preston. The later was a solid 2-0 win and performance by the cottagers, with Kamara’s 90’ minute strike finishing the game after a David Nugent own goal. Fulham had 15 total shots against Preston, with only 4 on target, compared to Prestons 8 with 2 on target. Scott Parker’s side will come to Ashton Gate in full confidence, which could play into City’s hands as Johnson has said before that his side flourish as the underdog.

Predicted Lineups

Lee Johnson changed back to his favoured 4-4-2 against Millwall as his switch to the 5-3-2 did not work against Huddersfield Town. Andi Weimann returned to the starting lineup along with Korey Smith, Pedro Pereira and Callum O’Dowda. We see Johnson sticking to a similar system that worked well against Fulham at Craven Cottage, with Han-Noah Massengo returning in midfield alongside Korey Smith. We also predict Nahki Wells to feature, with Andi Weimann dropping out to the right flank, sacrificing Callum O’Dowda. Niclas Eliasson is also our pick on the left wing, replacing Jamie Paterson. We expect the back 4 to stay the same, and also the return of Dan Bentley in goal.

Bristol City Predicted 11 vs Fulham

The Fulham lineup is tricky, as Kamara came off the bench to score against Preston, and he may be handed a start over Ivan Cavaleiro or Antony Knockaert. However we predict both to retain their starting spot. The big news is that Joe Bryan came off injured and is unlikely to feature in his homecoming. This makes way for Cyrus Christie to play out of position on the left flank after he was awarded MOTM by FotMob.
